My First Podcast: Handiscover World - Accessible Travel

My Podcast Episode is NOW LIVE!

Did my FIRST podcast with @handiscoverworld and its host British Paralympic judoka, Jonathan Drane. Handiscover World is an accessible travel podcast that discusses what travel is like for people with a wide range of disabilities as well as our stories and background. We ended up talking more about life philosophy and less about travel. I had fun. Take a listen, share, give it a like and let me know what you think 😉

“Los Angeles based Artist, Kam Redlawsk, was born in South Korea but was adopted and raised in Michigan since the age of four. A rare muscle-wasting disease called GNEM began taking over Kam’s body at the age of 20, however, in hindsight, symptoms began much earlier. Kam went from running and  kicking soccer balls to making use of canes, leg braces and now a full-time wheelchair since 2012.

Kam is a self-taught illustrator. She visually portrays her personal experiences with a degenerative muscle-wasting disorder and what it’s like to live with a debilitating condition. Kam believes an image can describe what words cannot. Kam is also trained in Automotive Industrial Design. She has been involved in product design, creative branding and art direction, graphic design, non-profit, advocacy and now illustration.

She has designed an array of products ranging from cell phones, toys, electronics, and even contributed to the world’s cheapest prosthetic knee joint for third world countries. Through her work, Kam hopes that those with disabilities will see they can still live life and live it big.”

Before I did this podcast I shared on Facebook that despite loving public speaking, I get incredibly nervous and insecure beforehand, even though I’ve had years of being an advocate and featured in news and media. The fear largely stems from hating my voice and having it recorded. Growing up kids/teens made fun of my voice all the time, which largely stemmed from being born with a cleft palate. I hated it and been self conscious since. We all have that thing(s) we dislike about ourselves, trick is getting over it and focusing on things we like about ourselves more. .
